Therapy Fees & Payment Options | Lionheart Counseling LLC
Investing in Your Mental Health Shouldn't Feel Out of Reach
One of the most common reasons people put off starting therapy is cost. At Lionheart Counseling, the goal is to make quality mental health care as accessible as possible, with multiple insurance plans accepted and a straightforward self-pay rate.
Here's everything you need to know about fees and payment at Lionheart Counseling LLC.
Insurance Accepted
Lionheart Counseling LLC accepts a number of insurance plans. Currently accepted plans include:
Select Health -IHC
Aetna
United Healthcare - Optum
Medicare
EMI
BCBS
Cigna
DMBA

*Lionheart Counseling LLC is partnered with Living Waters Counseling LLC currently for billing and scheduling purposes. If you want to verify your personal insurance plan benefits for working with Lionheart, ask your provider if Dax Johnson under Living Water Counseling LLC is covered.*
Not sure if your plan is covered? The best thing to do is reach out directly to your insurance provider and ask questions concerning covered providers such as Daxton Johnson (billing and insurance claims are currently processed through my partnering office, Living Waters Counseling LLC), and what your expected appointment copays should be.
Self-Pay (Private Pay) Rate
Individual therapy sessions: $100 per session
Self-pay is a great option for clients who:
Don't have mental health coverage through their insurance
Prefer to keep their therapy private and off their insurance record
Have a high deductible and prefer to pay out of pocket
Want more flexibility in their treatment — including diagnosis, session frequency, and focus
Choosing self-pay means no insurance company is involved in your care. You and your therapist — not your insurance plan — determine what you need and how your therapy unfolds.
Why Therapy Is Worth the Investment
At $100 per session, therapy at Lionheart Counseling is priced to be genuinely accessible while honoring the time, training, and care that meaningful therapeutic work requires.
The things that bring people to therapy carry a cost of their own. Anxiety that limits what you do, trauma that keeps shaping your relationships and sense of self, depression that leaves you feeling disconnected from your own life. That weight doesn't go away on its own. Therapy creates a space where it actually can.
Lionheart Counseling is committed to holding two things at once: making quality mental health care attainable for people who need it, and reflecting the real value of skilled, experienced, committed therapeutic work. Both matter.
Therapy is one of the most meaningful investments you can make in yourself. Breaking free from self-sabotage, healing from trauma, changing the story you tell yourself about who you are and what you can achieve. That kind of change doesn't just improve how you feel in a session. It changes how you live. If cost feels like a barrier, reach out and let's talk.
No-Show and Late Cancellation Policy
Consistency is one of the most important ingredients in effective therapy. Each appointment time is reserved specifically for you — and when a session is missed without adequate notice, that time cannot be offered to another client who may need it.
Out of respect for the therapeutic process and for everyone's time, the following policy is in place:
Cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice and no-shows will be charged the full session fee of $100.
This policy applies regardless of insurance coverage — no-show and late cancellation fees are not billable to insurance and are the responsibility of the client.
If something comes up, please reach out as soon as possible. Life happens, and there is always grace for genuine emergencies. Open communication goes a long way, and exceptions can be discussed on a case-by-case basis when circumstances warrant it.
What to Expect With Insurance
If you're using insurance, here's a quick overview of how it typically works:
Copay: The flat fee you pay per session (set by your insurance plan, not your therapist).
Deductible: The amount you pay out of pocket before insurance starts covering costs. Once your deductible is met, your insurance typically covers most or all of the remaining session cost.
In-Network vs. Out-of-Network: Lionheart Counseling is in-network with the plans listed above. If your plan isn't on the list, it may still offer out-of-network benefits — contact your insurance directly to ask. However, it is always best practice to call and confirm with your insurance provider ahead of making appointments with any provider so that you know what to expect when it’s time to pay for their services.
Not sure what your plan covers? Call the member services number on the back of your insurance card and ask:
"Do I have mental health benefits?"
"What is my copay or coinsurance for outpatient therapy?"
"Have I met my deductible for this year?"
No Surprises — Ever
You'll always know what to expect before your first session. There are no hidden fees, no surprise charges, and no pressure. If you have questions about cost before booking, just reach out — getting a clear answer before you start is completely reasonable, and we're happy to help. At times, insurance companies may change rates and copays due to faulty information or changes in insurance plans that aren’t always communicated to members. If there are ever such changes that occur, we do our best to ensure clear communication happens about changes in copays and invoices.
Ready to Get Started?
Don't let cost be the thing that keeps you from getting the support you deserve. Whether you're using insurance or self-pay, taking the first step is simpler than you might think.
Book a session directly or reach out with questions — we'll figure out the details together.
