Meet your counselor
Daxton Johnson, LCMHC
Seeking help takes courage — and I don't take it lightly that you're here. My goal is to provide a space where you feel genuinely heard, respected, and supported as you work through whatever brought you to this point.
I specialize in working with adults who feel stuck and caught in cycles of self-sabotage, depression, anxiety, or trauma that leave them feeling like they're just surviving with no clear way forward. That changes here.
My Approach
Therapy with me starts with one simple foundation: you are a human being who deserves genuine respect and unconditional regard. That's not just something I say. It's how I work.
From there, I draw on evidence-based methods including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, and Solution-Focused Therapy to help you identify and dismantle the harmful beliefs and patterns holding you back, and replace them with ways of thinking that actually serve you. My office is a place where you're allowed to feel safe, heard, and fully yourself. I believe that experiencing a healthy relationship in therapy can open the door to healthier relationships in every area of your life.
What to Expect
In our first few sessions, I'll walk you through how the process works, answer any questions you have, and take time to really get to know your story — not just your symptoms. Understanding who you are and how you got here is how I figure out how to best help you, and it gives you the chance to decide if we're the right fit.
Education & Training
I earned my Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Grand Canyon University in 2023, and am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the state of Utah since the start of 2026. Since 2023, I have years of experience via my internship and associate years under the tutelage and mentorship of Dr. Ron Llewelyn, owner of Living Waters Counseling. My ongoing clinical experience in helping individuals navigate a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges continues to teach me about the human mind, how it works, and how you and I are capable of achieving healthy minds, healthy emotions, and healthy life habits. Since graduating and obtaining my full LCMHC, I continue to educate myself and grow my clinical skills by seeking out networking opportunities with other experts in the field, attending trainings, consulting with colleagues, and inviting the feedback of my clients for the benefit of their personalized treatment and therapy goals.
A Little About Me
Outside the office, I'm a husband, dad, and shiba inu owner. I'm also a self-published author — my book, A Fresh Dose of Hope: A Husband's Journey Through Infertility and the Bible, tells the story of my wife's and my nine-year infertility journey and the life wisdom we gained along the way. It's available on Amazon. I’ve got a few more book ideas cooking in my mind that I’d love to write and publish someday.
I believe "helped people help people," and it's an honor to walk alongside my clients as they grow into a version of that phrase that fits their life story. Sometimes that journey takes a few sessions or a few years. Each person’s story and journey is unique to them. If you're ready to stop surviving and start building something better, I'd love to connect.
