What Anxiety Actually Looks Like

‍ ‍

Anxiety is one of the most common reasons adults seek therapy — and one of the most misunderstood. It's not just worrying too much. For many people it shows up as:

‍ ‍

  • A mind that won't stop running through worst-case scenarios

  • Avoiding people, situations, or opportunities because the anxiety feels too overwhelming

  • Panic attacks that come out of nowhere and leave you exhausted

  • Physical tension, restlessness, or chronic exhaustion even when nothing stressful is happening

  • Self-doubt and perfectionism that keeps you playing smaller than you want to

  • A constant sense of waiting for something to go wrong

‍ ‍

If any of that sounds familiar you're not alone — and you don't have to keep managing it alone.

‍ ‍

Evidence-Based Anxiety Treatment in the Salt Lake Valley

‍ ‍

At Lionheart Counseling, anxiety treatment goes deeper than symptom management. Using CBT, EMDR, IFS, and Solution-Focused Therapy, we identify the thought patterns, past experiences, and internal patterns driving your anxiety and address them at the root.

‍ ‍

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) rewires the thinking patterns that fuel the anxiety cycle. EMDR processes the past experiences your nervous system is still responding to. Internal Family Systems (IFS) helps you understand the anxious parts of yourself — where they came from and what they're protecting — so they can finally relax. Solution-Focused Therapy keeps the work forward-focused and goal-oriented.

‍ ‍

  • "Do yourself a favor and get to know this guy! I’m a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) of 30 years. I’ve known a lot of therapists over the years, I would, and would not, recommend. I am SUPER picky about who I refer people to. Dax is one I highly recommend without reservation. He’s bright, soulful, grounded, compassionate, and passionate! He truly has a lion’s heart. And he has a great story that led him to where he is. He’s a good man doing good work in the world. He’ll take good care of you"

  • "I've counseled with Dax about several different interpersonal issues. He is very objective and always makes sure to think before he speaks. I would recommend Dax if you need someone who really listens to understand and isn't going to butt in or talk about himself. He has a genuine heart for people and wants to them succeed. If you're ready to dig in and move forward in your life and relationships, Dax is definitely someone you want on your team."
